kingdom builders @ 9:45 a.m.

Kingdom Builders 1: (K4-3rd Graders) – This is a high-intensity teaching time with movement and drama-focused teaching.  This first semester we will be focusing on the theme of God’s Servants. Lessons will be adapted in theme from Great Commission’s Show Me Jesus curriculum. Kingdom Builders 1 begins promptly at 9:45 AM in the Large Exercise Room. 

Kingdom Builders 2: (4th & 5th Graders) – This is a time for boys and girls (in separate classes) to experience instruction, interaction, and prayer on a small group level.  The Kingdom Builders 2 Boys’ Class will meet  promptly at 9:45 AM in the last room on the left down the main hallway.  The Kingdom Builders 2 Girls’ Class will meet promptly at 9:45 AM in the second to last room on the left down the main hallway. 

Okay, so what do I do with my Middle or High Schooler? Because Middle School and High School students have a time of instruction on Sunday evening, we are moving toward an apprentice model for them on Sunday mornings.  Students who become involved in the service aspects of the Church at large tend to stay connected to Church even through the college years.  In light of that, we want to provide a built-in time to “apprentice” on Sunday morning.  There are two levels for this: 

Apprentice 1: (Middle School) – There is an opportunity for Middle Schoolers to help with the drama, games, and scripture reading in the Kingdom Builders 1 class.  If they intend to help, I would like them to be there no later than 9:35 AM so that we can work out their role.  I will send them e-mails to co-ordinate this, but the first few weeks will be somewhat “on the fly” as they try to determine if this is something they would like to do. 

Apprentice 2: (High School) – There is an opportunity for High Schoolers to assist in the Kingdom Builders 2 class.  This role is more of a modeling of listening skills to the 4th & 5th graders and also  building of relationships with them so that, when they reach youth group age, their transition will be a little easier as they know someone.  Apprentices at this level will have their roles defined by the adult small group leader of the class.  High School boys will be with the 4th/5th boys’ class and High School girls’ will be with the 4th/5th grade girls class.  Please be there no later than 9:35 AM so that you can spend a few moments chatting with or praying with the small group leader before the class begins. 

What about the nursery? At this time, no nursery will be provided.  Should this be an interest and an appropriate number of families step up to staff this nursery, we will consider it.  For options of how to be involved, even with children younger than 3, please see “What about adults?” 

What about adults? With our new Sunday morning schedule change and structure, we will not be offering an adult class every Sunday. However, there are plans to have an adult class elective offered on a periodic basis. This will be a designated class for a specific time to cover a specific focus (topical or bible book). The class would likely last 4-6 weeks and start at 9:15 AM for those Sundays.  There also have been some adults who have expressed a desire for a weekly time of prayer before the service. If you have this same desire and would be interested in helping facilitate such a weekly time, please contact Pastor Mike at 770-529-2600 or mike@christcommunitycobb.org. Also, Kingdom Builders 1 is intended to have a “Story Time” feel to it.  As such you are invited to bring your small children in and sit and watch from the back of the room (as parents typically do during story time).  However, we ask that children younger than four not participate in the activities at this time (unless you get approval) because the games and environment are designed for ages 4 and up.  Also, if your young child (under 3) is distracting from the older children’s instruction, please step out with them so we can make the most of our shortened instruction time.  Thanks for understanding! 

When is Kingdom Builders? 

It begins at 9:45 AM SHARP! To accommodate families that struggle to get to church by 9:00 AM and 9:15 AM and to reach the attention span of this age group, we are starting at 9:45 AM and ending at 10:15 AM.  Because we have a very tight window of time we ask that your child be in his/her classroom by 9:40 AM!  

During the Worship Service @ 10:30 a.m.

At 10:30, infants remain in their nursery and children who are 3 and 4 years of age go to a 3's and 4's class. 

Praise City

Children K-1st grade join the rest of the congregation for the first portion of the worship service, after which they are dismissed for a special children's church time called "Praise City".  This is an age appropriate time of worship with kid-sized worship elements and a fun interactive children's parable.
