South Point Church Planting Team
Henry County, Georgia
Josef and Kim
Roberts, Kelli, Addyson, Matthew and Emma-Kate Means
In the fall of 2003, in a men’s Bible study at the Fine Grind Coffee Shop in Acworth, Georgia, the Lord began to move in the hearts of two men at Christ Community Church. As they prayed and dreamed about what God might do for His Kingdom through them, the Lord answered their prayers. God began to show them His heart for His church and for the people of metro-Atlanta. As they continued to pray and ask the Lord to lead, He answered once again. God provided an opportunity to plant a new church, with the vision of a church planting movement, on the south side of Atlanta. Being obedient to the call, Matthew and Josef, along with their families, moved to Henry County in the fall of 2004. In the first nine months, the Lord called ten other families in Henry County to commit to this vision. God also provided a permanent worship location in the heart of Henry County, perfect for worship and community ministry. In October of 2005, South Point Church launched public worship along with several other community ministries. South Point Church is trusting and praying that the Lord will use them to plant another local church in a couple of years. Teaching Pastor Matthew Means was raised in Valdosta, Georgia, and became a Christian through a Bible study on the football team during his freshmen year at Valdosta State University. After college he ministered to college students in both North and South Carolina while on staff with the ministry of Campus Outreach. Before becoming the pastor of South Point, Matthew served on staff with Christ Community for three years. A graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary, he has a heart for the church and the lost. Executive Pastor Josef Roberts was raised in Gainesville, Georgia, where he became a Christian during his senior year in high school. After high school, he attended Covenant College where he studied accounting and received a degree in business. Josef has worked in the corporate market doing accounting and finance for both American Tower and The Home Depot corporate headquarters for several years. He is currently enrolled in Reformed Theological working towards his Masters in Divinity.
