My name is Mike and my wife's name is Charlotte. We have three daughters - Emily and Hannah (the twins), and Sophie.

I was raised in Knoxville, Tenn., and upon graduating high school received a football scholarship to Middle Tennessee State University. After my freshman year, God gripped my heart in such a way as to create a desire to serve him full time. So I transferred to a Bible college to finish my undergraduate studies and to prepare for the ministry.

Soon after college I married Charlotte and we began a fruitful period of youth ministry at a church in Ormond Beach, Fla. Five years later, God placed a call on our hearts to attend Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. During our senior year in seminary, my wife and I attended a church planting assessment where we were affirmed in our gifts and calling towards church planting. We were encouraged, but knew we needed more training. Upon graduating from RTS, I received a call from Perimeter Church in Duluth, Ga., to be an assistant pastor. Perimeter is one of the most innovative and progressive churches in the country and it was a great opportunity for us to serve and learn. The experience and training was immeasurable in preparing us for this new work!

In January 2000, we began to seek the necessary prayer and financial support to start this new church. God was faithful to meet our goal abundantly in resources and we moved to northwest Cobb County in September 2000. We desire to see God raise up a new church in the northwest Atlanta area that believes and trusts in the surpassing sufficiency of Christ, as evidenced in the power of the gospel. It is our great desire to see the gospel radically transform the hearts of people, leading to an authentically transformed life. It will be through a genuine cooperative effort of those changed lives that the communities of northwest Atlanta will see the reality and power of God.

My name is Zack Carden.  I am the Assistant Pastor to Youth and Children at Christ Community Church.  I was ordained to the gospel ministry in August of 2002 following 3 ½ years of training at Covenant Theological Seminary.  My wife, Tennyson, and I have been married for 11 years and have four children: Seth (8), Talbott (6), Cole (4) and Halle (1).

I have served previously for two years as the Assistant Pastor to Youth at Hope Presbyterian Church in Marietta, GA and for 4 ½ years as the Assistant Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga, TN.

Before and during seminary I worked with elementary aged children in both afterschool programs and summer day camps through the YMCA and other organizations.  While in seminary, I was also the youth director of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Wildwood, MO for two years.

Though Chattanooga was where I was raised and where both my family and my wife’s family reside, we sensed a call to join the church family here at Christ Community.  It is a privilege for us to work with the Children and Youth of the church alongside a number of volunteers with hearts to serve.

My name is Steven Wooddell, and my wife Joy and I are blessed to be part of the ministry of Christ Community Church where I serve as Director of Worship. We have a 4-year-old daughter, Grace, a 2-year-old son, Phillip, and a new daughter, Elise, born in November.

I am originally from Roanoke, Va., and I attended college at the Cleveland Institute of Music. My musical focus was purely classical and I obtained a degree in organ. Although I served as a musician in many churches, I did not have a grasp of the gospel. When I took my first job after college in Sewanee, Tenn., I began to perceive how profoundly empty my life without Christ truly was. Through meeting my wife and the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit I became a Christian and started rethinking my whole approach to music and worship. After getting a master’s degree in Dallas and serving at a church in Virginia, Joy and I found ourselves drawn to the vision of Christ Community.

We are both honored and excited to be able to be a part of what God is doing here in Acworth.

My name is Jen Hunter.  I was delighted to join the family of Christ Community Church as administrative assistant in May of this year.

I was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD where God first found and called me as a child.  From a very early age, I knew Jesus to be my salvation, refuge, and friend.  The summer before 6th grade, my father was called into full-time leadership in the "Business As Mission" movement, which brought my family to metro-Atlanta.  It was here in Atlanta that I began to grow in my understanding of Jesus' lordship over my life and the need to daily surrender to Him.

I attended Furman University for undergrad where I earned a B.A in psychology.  From there I completed 2 of 5 years in a Masters/Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.   A difficult year and some health complications led me to take a leave of absence from graduate school, and it was in this season and its precursors that I learned of humility and that Jesus is not only Lord of my life but Sovereign King of all.

It has certainly been an unexpected adventure getting here, but it is such a pleasure and privilege to have now found work where I can daily use the gifts God has given me to serve His church and the beauty and furthering of His kingdom.
