Prayer Quote and Focus for the Week, Week of July 16th

O Thou that hearest prayer, teach me to pray. I confess that in religious exercises the language of my lips and the feelings of my heart have not always agreed, that I have frequently taken carelessly upon my tongue a name never pronounced above without reverence and humility, that I have often desired things which would have injured me, that I have depreciated some of my chief mercies, that I have erred both on the side of my hopes and also of my fears, that I am unfit to choose for myself, for it is not in me to direct my steps. Let thy Spirit help my infirmities, for I know not what to pray for as I ought. Let Him produce in me wise desires by which I may ask right things, then I shall know thou hearest me. May I never be importunate for temporal blessings, but always refer them to thy fatherly goodness, for thou knowest what I need before I ask; may I never think I prosper unless my soul prospers, or that I am rich unless rich toward thee, or that I am wise unless wise unto salvation. May I seek first thy kingdom and its righteousness. May I value things in relation to eternity. May my spiritual welfare be my chief solicitude. May I be poor, afflicted, despised and have thy blessing, rather than be successful in enterprise, or have more than my heart can wish, or be admired by my fellow-men, if thereby these things make me forget thee. May I seek my happiness in thy favour, image, presence, service.

Servanthood Sundays

Begin July 20

Ministry team leaders will have sign-up sheets available for ministry recruitment during Servanthood Sundays July 20 & 27 and August 3. Being a part of CCC’s serving teams gives you the opportunity to impact lives for the gospel's sake, to see God's kingdom grow and to build valuable relationships.  Further details about ministry teams will be available on Sunday morning.

The Thailand team is leaving on Thursday, July 24th, at 12:20 p.m. for a short term mission trip to support the Mills family in Bangkok.  They will return on Saturday, August 2nd, at 7:50 p.m.  The Team seeks the prayers of our entire congregation as they travel and support the Thailand MTW Team.  The team is still in need of financial support as well as materials for children's outreach (buttons, markers, yarn, and "lonely socks" for puppets, and Matchbox/Hotwheel cars, small crayon packs, and coloring books for the team to handout during the trip).  Donations may be given to any member of the team, which includes John & Amy Huff, Brian & Mandy Stock, Lee & Miriam Tindall, Phil & Lynn Wofford, or sent to the church office.

UPDATE: CHURCH SEEKS REZONING FOR PROPERTY

The latest unexpected news on our due diligence is the need to seek rezoning for the property near the intersection of Jiles Road and Main St. in Kennesaw across from Kenn. Elem. School. This will need to be done prior to closing on the property. Please be in prayer as this will delay our closing on the property for two months. Pray that God would use our church representatives to move the process along and acquire our new zoning. The sewer access is still progressing forward so that we will also have access resolved in a few weeks.

PASTOR MIKE’S FAMILY RENEWAL AND STUDY LEAVE

Pastor Mike and his family are currently on vacation, after which Mike will be taking two weeks for study and preparation for the upcoming ministry year. Please pray that God would renew them as a family and deepen their relationships with God and each other. Pray that God would bless Mike with key insights and understanding as he considers the direction for our church this next year. If you have a pastoral need in Mike’s absence, please contact Elder J. Doig at 770-876-7434.

COMMUNITY GROUPS

These groups are an important means of fellowship, equipping and encouragement for the adults of CCC. There are various groups which meet at different locations and times during the week. All groups will be taking a break for the summer but will relaunch in the fall.

COVENANT GROUPS FOR MEN AND WOMEN

These groups are the primary discipleship structure in our adult ministry at CCC. Each group is gender specific and has 4-6 members and makes a commitment for the school year. Our current groups are finishing up for the summer. New groups will be formed and launched in September. If you have never participated in a group and would like to be contacted or find out more about these groups, please call the church office by August so you can be part of a group in the fall.

NEW ASSISTANT PASTOR TO YOUTH AND CHILDREN HIRED

Our new staff pastor is Zack Carden. Zack is a graduate of Covenant Seminary and is an ordained PCA pastor and has been working as a pastor/leader in youth and children's ministry for the past six years in the local church. Zack has many gifts and feels deeply called to our community of believers. Most recently, Zack has led a ministry of 200 children and 100 youth in a local church and has a deep passion for reaching the next generation with the gospel. Zack will be coming alongside our current youth ministry leadership and building up that team to better serve and reach out to the middle and high school students. Zack will also take the staff lead in the Children's ministry area. Zack and his wife, Tennyson, have been married over ten years and have four children - Seth (7), Talbot (5), Cole (3), and Halle (1).

NEW ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT HIRED

Our new Administrative Assistant is Jennifer Hunter. Jennifer is a recent college graduate who has relocated to Cobb County from Gwinnett to join our staff. She began training on May 7 and is now working full-time, 8:30-5:00 five days a week.

WOMEN OF CHRIST COMMUNITY (WOCC)

The women of CCC have recently organized all the ministry efforts under one ministry called Women of Christ Community. The purpose of the W.O.C.C. is that every woman know Christ personally and be committed to extending His kingdom in her life, home, church, community, and throughout the world. In order to accomplish this purpose there are presently five areas of ministry in which to get involved. Those areas are: Discipleship Ministry, Connecting Ministry, Hospitality Ministry, Caregiving Ministry, and Retreat/Conference Ministry. If you desire to serve in an area, please call Lisa Lucas at 678-581-0988.

CHURCH CASTS UNANIMOUS VOTE FOR LAND PURCHASE!

On May 18, at our congregational meeting, the church body voted unanimously to pursue the purchase of the property near the intersection of Jiles Road and Main St. in Kennesaw across from Kenn. Elem. School. We would seek to acquire 8 acres initially and have an option on the remaining 6 acres. Please be in prayer for the final details of due diligence on the property to be completed, especially sewer access.

FUTURE PERMENANT HOME IDENTIFIED!

The relocation team has now identified 14 acres in a prime location near the intersection of Jiles Road and Main St. in Kennesaw across from Kenn. Elem. School.  We would seek to acquire 8 acres initially and have an option on the remaining 6 acres.  Due diligence on the property regarding its viability is currently being pursued.  Pray for God to either affirm this location or lead us elsewhere.

RUF COLLEGE MINISTRY

RUF for college students meets weekly on KSU campus. This weekly gathering is open to all college students in the Kennesaw/north Cobb area who either attend KSU or are home for the summer. For location and information, visit www.ksuruf.org or contact campus minister Chris Bowen at cbowen@ruf.org or 678.982.3212.

WEEKLY PRAYER TIME FOR THE WORSHIP SERVICE

We have a weekly time of prayer before the worship service from 10-10:20 a.m. each Sunday in the first ballet room on the left down the hallway from Kid's Town/The Edge in the Community Center. This will be a time to gather to pray for the worship service, for those involved in leading and serving, and for the newcomers attending services that day. Anyone who wishes to participate is welcome to come and pray.
