Communion Sunday Banner 2021

Dear Family at Christ Community,

As part of our worship on Sunday, we will have the privilege to participate in welcoming 4 children to the Lord’s table by profession of faith. Andrew Baird, Eamon Jolly, Lars Jolly, and Violet Jolly have responded to their baptisms by God’s grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. We share in these eternal gifts as each of them have participated in our Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry (in Violet’s case). They’ve also been a part of the weekly life of the church in worship and small groups. Thank you for praying for them and serving them as hospitable witnesses to Christ in so many ways!

As an encouragement to not grow weary in doing good toward the children of the church, we will hear Paul’s admonition in Romans 12:14-21 to “not be haughty, but associate with the lowly.” One of the consistent areas where we can associate with the lowly is in our Children’s and Youth Ministries. It’s important to note that Paul doesn’t use lowly pejoratively or in a demeaning way. To be lowly meant that one couldn’t reciprocate or materially benefit those who served or were hospitable to them. While the children and youth of our church bring us much joy in a variety of immaterial ways, they don’t have the status or material power to benefit us in those ways. Our church has done this well over the years. Thank you to those who are faithfully serving among our children and youth! We were able to start our 5’s-1st grade Sunday Catechism Class this past Sunday for the first time since all the challenges presented by COVID. Our 2nd-5th grade students need classes to help them grow as disciples. A major challenge is the limited space available to us at the Community Center. We will be considering creative options to better serve the generations entrusted to us. Please share with us any ideas that you may have!

As you come to the Lord’s table this Sunday, thank Him for entrusting so valuable a gift to us as the children and youth of our church! Give praise to Jesus for faithfully redeeming four more for us to celebrate this Sunday! Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in how to serve the lowly but precious ones in prayer, hospitality, and/or teaching and discipleship.  May we come to the Lord’s table this Sunday with great joy and expectation of God’s goodness!

In Christ,
Cameron
