Dear Baptized Ones,

On Sunday at our 10:30 am service, we will witness the baptism of Randolph Justus Benn as part of our worship in 1 John 1:5-9. As baptized ones, we can confess our sins as those cleansed and forgiven as well as to mature in walking in the light with God our Father. Confession serves not only to unburden us of our shame but also offers us the opportunity to grow in God’s righteousness. D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones describes this in Life in Christ: Studies in 1 John in his commentary on 1 John 1:5-9:

What (repentance) means, therefore, is that men and women who walk in the light are people who are seeking God. They desire to know God better; they are concerned about the glory and honour of God; they are anxious to please God. They realize that for very many years they have been living in a realm which is antagonistic to God, and their whole idea is to be as different as they can. That is walking in the light, living to the glory and honour of God.

Let’s join in praying that Justus will one day confess his sin and need of a Savior which will lead him to pursue growing in Christ’s likeness. Pray for the Spirit to help us to improve upon our baptisms to walk in the light in fellowship with one another as those forgiven in Christ. May our time in worship together serve to bless those in our spheres of influence throughout the rest of the week.

In Christ,
Cameron
