Dear Family at Christ Community,

     On Sunday, we have the nourishing gift of the Lord’s Table set before us as part of our worship in John 15:18-27. The broken bread and cup overflowing serve as critical elements in Christ’s assured comfort to us that He has in fact overcome the world. Given the opposition of the world to we who bear the image in union with Christ, this proves to be good news that just gets better and better as we await Jesus’ sure return to make all things new. As Sinclair Ferguson explains in The Holy Spirit:  

The Spirit descends in order to raise us up into fellowship with Christ (cf. Col. 3:1-4). Similarly, in the Supper, the Spirit comes to ‘close the gap’ as it were between Christ in heaven and the believer on earth, and to give communion with the exalted Saviour.

Yet again a member of the Trinity descends to help us in relationship to another member of the Trinity! How gracious is our God to provide so richly of His presence for His people all throughout our salvation experience!

     Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you to prepare to worship in spirit and truth this Sunday. Ask Him to remind you of the depth, width, and height of your forgiveness in Christ as a result of God’s boundless love for you. Seek opportunities to offer forgiveness to those who have offended you or ask forgiveness of those you have offended. Cry out for the Lord to draw people into worship that would most benefit from experiencing the great news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit!
