Dear Family at Christ Community,

On Sunday we will conclude our Advent series with Isaiah 66:1-2. In this text, the Lord declares His transcendent power and while also assuring us that He sets His gaze upon the humble and contrite who tremble at His Word. Our call to worship reiterates these themes:

For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. (Isaiah 57:15).

This truth helps us behold the wondrous mystery of the Lord’s Table: the Lord Who dwells in the high and holy place, Whose footstool is the earth, condescends to nourish His people’s faith through the ordinary means of the bread and cup!

As you prepare for the Lord’s Table this week, take time to meditate upon God’s grandeur as your Creator and Redeemer. Remember Christ’s example of perfect humility in His first advent, and ask the Holy Spirit to nourish your faith at the Table so that you may continue to grow in humility as you await Christ’s second advent. May we all come to the Table with hungry faith, assured that our God looks upon us in Christ and satisfies our deepest needs in Him!

Yours in union with Christ,
Matt
