Communion Letter: March 8th

Communion Transparent

Dear Family at Christ Community,

We have the great privilege of welcoming Matthew Baird and Thomas Huie to dine with us at the Lord’s Table this Sunday! Both come by profession of faith alone in Christ alone by God’s grace alone. This serves as the glorious fruit produced the means of grace in their lives of which our church has been a part.

In God’s providence, the Gatherer will remind us in Ecclesiastes 3:9-15 that God alone makes everything beautiful in its time as well as placing the longing for eternity in each of our hearts. Matthew and Thomas come to the table in the beauty of His timing through the transformation of their hearts to eternal life in Christ, because Jesus pursued them to welcome them into God’s presence. The Gatherer foreshadows this lovely reality in the conclusion of verse 15. He declares that “God seeks what has been driven away.” Though sin drives us from the presence of God, He comes looking for His lost sheep as He promised. John D. Currid, in meditating on Ecclesiastes 3:15, writes in Ecclesiastes: A Quest for Meaning? :

“…the Lord seeks to obtain what is vanishing or what is fleeting. In other words, although God is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, and unchanging for eternity, he yet pursues fleeting things. He pursues humans with the truth of the gospel. Although we are here today and gone tomorrow, the Hound of Heaven sees fit to track us down and to pursue us that we might become his own.”

Please come this Sunday prepared to celebrate the fruit of the Gospel in Matthew and Thomas’s lives! Be prepared to celebrate the fruit of the Gospel in your own life as we eat and drink in remembrance of the finished work of Christ in our lives!

In Christ,
Cameron
