Dear Family at CCC,

This Sunday we will have the opportunity to partake of the Lord’s Table as we continue in our sermon series in the Gospel of Mark by hearing from Mark 3:7-21. In this passage we see Jesus appointing the twelve disciples who were to be His apostles. They were to be with Him, sharing in His life and learning from Him in order to be sent out by Him as preachers and representatives of the good news of redemption.

The Table is a reminder that we too have been made partakers of life with Jesus. The broken bread and poured out cup signify the cost of our redemption in the broken body and poured out blood of Jesus. They also seal upon our hearts the reality of our new life in Him. Like the Twelve, we who have been called by Jesus are no longer what we once were, strangers to God and separated from His promises. Instead, we have been brought near, invited to His table, and called His friends.

As we prepare to partake of the Table this Sunday, let us ask the Lord to use this means of grace to make us more aware of the new life we have been given in Christ Jesus. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to help us to mortify the temptation to live according to our old pride, anxieties, and fears. Let us aim to draw near to the throne of Grace for help to live in the power of the Holy Spirit, not only for ourselves, but for the life of the world. May the Lord use our time at the Table to further unite our hearts to His!

In Christ,
Robby
