Philosophy of Children’s Ministry

At CCC, our Children’s Ministry is a partnership between the church and the families of our congregation. Our mission is to equip our covenant children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, with the hope that the Holy Spirit will use our efforts to instill in the next generation a deep, abiding love for God. We desire our children to know Him better and to make Him known to others.

Our ministry is led by Director Bonnie Lane, Emilie Schelling, and a dedicated team of interns and volunteers. Each member of our staff and volunteer team is thoroughly trained, background checked and committed to serving God by discipling the next generation.

We pray that through our ministry, God would help our children experience His love for them and grow in their love for both God and their neighbors.

Below, you’ll find an overview of our main events. If you have any questions about our Children’s Ministry, please feel free to contact Bonnie Lane at bonnie@christcommunitycobb.org.

Sunday School Classes: 9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

These classes meet before the worship service every Sunday at the Ben Robertson Community Center:

4-year-old through Kindergarten
  • Curriculum: Teach Me to Worship
  • This curriculum introduces children to the key elements of a worship service, helping them understand worship more deeply and engage meaningfully on Sunday mornings.
1st-2nd Grade
  • Curriculum: New City Catechism
  • This curriculum includes 52 catechism questions that cover the central doctrines of Scripture. It helps these truths take root in children’s hearts and guides them in applying God's Word to their lives.
3rd-5th Grade
  • Curriculum: The Biggest Story Bible
  • This curriculum walks children through the stories of Scripture, connecting them to the larger narrative of redemption. It aims to deepen their understanding of the Bible and inspire them to live in light of the redemptive work of Jesus.

Children’s Church Classes: 10:30 a.m. (during service)

These classes meet during our worship service, with drop off beginning at 10:15 AM at the Ben Robertson Community Center:

 Infants
  • This is a class designed for children ages 6 weeks - 12 months. During this class, your child will be given the utmost attention and nurturing.
Toddlers
  • This class is designed for children aged 12 months - 3 years. Children must be walking to graduate to this class. During this class your child will be playing with age-appropriate toys, reading books, and singing songs.
Preschool
  • This class is designed for children that are 3-5 years old (not in Kindergarten) and potty trained. The children will participate in singing, prayer, learn bible stories, and memorize scripture in a fun and loving environment.
  • Curriculum: Jesus Storybook Bible - This curriculum guides children through a variety of Bible stories, emphasizing that at the heart of each story is Jesus and the grand narrative of God's salvation through Him. Through these lessons, we aim to deepen our children's understanding of Jesus and His boundless love for them.
