Key Truth: Because we are united to Christ, believers both receive and extend God’s comfort to others.
I. (Source) God’s intrinsic nature disposes Him to compassion.
a. God extends compassion to us as His children.
b. God’s compassion comforts us in distress.
II. (Purpose) The believer experiences both suffering and comfort in union with Christ.
a. The believer’s own comfort is intended for others as well.
b. The believer’s union with Christ becomes a channel of God’s comfort to others.
