Christ, Our Passover: our remembrance & anticipation in the Lord's Supper

September 28, 2014 Preacher: Series: Echoes of the Exodus: the journey of the church (so far)

Scripture: Exodus 12:1–12:13

Key Truth: The Passover foreshadows the Lord's Supper in which we remember and anticipate all that God has done and will do in Christ our Passover.

Q: Why is a purposeful act of remembering God's goodness to His people important? What impact does it have on your hope for life between the now and the not yet and anticipation for the future?

Text: Exodus 12:1-13

Q: What marks the beginning of months for you? How complete is God's redemption for you in Christ?

QDo you make time for remembrance and anticipation of what God has done and will do in Christ our Passover in personal devotion, family devotion, and corporate worship? When life gets busy, what gets neglected most?

Q: What judment has been rendered on your behalf? How does this affect your ability to worship?

Application: 1 Corinthians 5:7

In the Lord's Supper we remember and anticipate:

  • God's desire to dwell with His people in eternal joy and glory in Christ
  • God's provision for our deepest need to be reconciled to Him through Christ
  • God's graciousness, mercifulness, patience, steadfast love, faithfulness, forgiveness, and justice as manifest most perfectly in Christ

Q: What are you remembering and anticipating as you come to the Lord's table?
