October 12, 2014 Preacher: Series: The Church is Called to Be...
Scripture: Ephesians 1:3–1:14
Key Truth: God is most generous in Christ through whom He graciously and lavishly provides redemption, heavenly inheritance, and assurance.
Q: How would you describe someone who abundantly gives you what you desperately need though you have done nothing to receive it and can do nothing to pay it back?
Text: God is Generous
Ephesians 1:3-14
Q: Given the failure of the Israelites and the idolatry and lack of pedigree of the Gentiles, what hope could they have had for salvation? Given your fallen nature and failure to be perfect, what hope do you have for salvation?
Q: How generous and lavish has God’s grace been to you?
Q: If you suddenly inherited a fortune from someone who loved you, who would you tell? How much more should we display God’s glory if He is our inheritance in Christ?
Q: How does assurance affect your freedom in worship and service in the kingdom?
Application:
Take time to specifically praise and bless God for His generosity in Christ for graciously and lavishly giving you:
-Redemption
-Heavenly Inheritance
-Assurance as sealed and guaranteed by the Holy Spirit
Closing:
Psalm 31:14-20
