Love Your Enemies

November 20, 2016 Preacher: Matthew O'Sullivan Series: Love Your Enemies

Scripture: Matthew 5:43–48

Key truth: God’s people are called to be different from the world by loving and praying for our enemies in hopes that they will become members of God’s family.

Love Your Enemies

Matthew 5:43-45

Q: Is there anyone whom you think is irredeemable or whom you think God should not redeem? Have you ever prayed for them?

Do Not Love Like the World

Matthew 5:46-47

Q: Does your love for others look like a copy of the world’s definition of love rather than a reflection of God’s love?

Love Like Your Father

Matthew 5:48

Q: Where is God giving you relationships and opportunities to reflect His love in this world?

Matthew 5:43-48 teaches that:

- Jesus breaks down the category of ‘enemy’ by calling us to love our enemies.

- Loving our enemies is a critical component of our witness in this divided world.

- God grows His family by turning His enemies into His children.
