Dear Family at Christ Community,

This Sunday we will celebrate the worthiness of the victorious Lamb of God slain for the life of the world who currently reigns in the heavenly throne room. As part of our worship celebration, we will have the opportunity to respond to Revelation 5 by partaking of the feast of the Lord’s Table and confessing that Jesus is Divine Savior and Sustainer as we receive the elements. In eating of the broken bread given for us, we will testify that Christ alone was and is sufficient to accomplish and apply our redemption to us. In drinking of the bountiful cup, we will testify that Christ alone was and is worthy of our worship and obedience in newness of life. The Holy Spirit will use this means of grace to further form us into those who reflect Christ’s image in word and deed to the glory of God for the life of the world. Vern S. Poythress in The Returning King: A Guide to the Book of Revelation captures how we should participate with the victorious Lamb as His ambassadors of reconciliation in the world for the life of the world:

…John sees a Lamb, not only a lamb, but one looking as if it had been slain. This vision sets forth in dramatic form the central paradox and mystery of the Christian faith. God achieved his triumph and delivered his people, not through fireworks of military might, but through the weakness of crucifixion. This way of doing things is an offense to worldly ways of thinking…. Christ’s achievement is unique, but it also sets the pattern for Christians. We are to fight our spiritual battles, not with military or political strength, but with endurance, purity and faithfulness to Christ, even to the point of death.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you to see Christ as the victorious Lamb slain for the life of the world. Ask the Spirit to guide you to worship Christ as worthy of honor, glory, and blessing. Give thanks for the sure and finished work of Christ as Divine Redeemer on our behalf. Seek reconciliation as one who has been made a priest of God in Christ. Participate in the redemptive work to which you have been invited to grow the Kingdom of God!

In Christ,
Cameron
