Dear Family at Christ Community,

     This coming Sunday we will gather to hear, confess, sing, and bear witness about Jesus Christ as the bread of eternal life. As part of our worship, we will receive the bread and cup from the Lord’s Table that proclaims that Jesus is the all-satisfying and sufficient Savior given to us according to the sovereign love and grace of God as applied to us in newness of life by the Holy Spirit. We join in this proclamation of Jesus as the bread of eternal life as signified in the bread and cup until He returns! As Jean Vanier writes in Drawn into the Mystery of Jesus through the Gospel of John, it is the word of God that we feed on and are nourished by:  

The word of God is the revelation of the love of God for the Jewish people. It is also the revelation of what humankind is about, what our lives are about, what the whole history of the universe and salvation is about. And it is sweet as honey…. We need to be nourished by the word of God. Those who were listening to Jesus could understand that the bread Jesus was speaking about was the nourishing bread of the word of God.

     Come prepared to feast and be nourished by the word of God because of the lavishness of the grace of God, the fullness of the work of Christ, and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit to renew and refresh!
Pray for the Holy Spirit to prepare your heart to wonder and awe at the love of God displayed in and through Christ for us His people. Ask the Spirit to draw those who desperately need to hear the reconciling message and hope of the Gospel of Jesus. Seek to forgive as you have been so graciously forgiven. Look for where the Lord is at work in our midst this Sunday!
