Dear Family at Christ Community,

What a gift to celebrate the Lord’s Supper as part of our return to worshipping at the Ben Robertson Community Center! The table’s elements will help remind us that the Good News has been entrusted to us for the life of the world. Our freedom from shame, guilt, and the fear of God’s wrath in the death of Christ as signified by the broken bread allows us to offer the Bread of Life to those struggling under the enslaving weight of the same; our newness of life in the resurrection of Christ as signified in the cup empowers us to testify of life more joyfully abundant to those laboring behind the veil of death. As debtors to unbelievers that God has sovereignly placed in our spheres of influence, we need our faith nourished by the Holy Spirit to help us hospitably persevere for the sake of their eternal lives. John R.W. Stott in The Message of Romans: God’s Good News for the World encourages us to remember why we’ve been entrusted with the Gospel:

…we are debtors to the world, even though we are not apostles. If the gospel has come to us (which it has), we have no liberty to keep it to ourselves. Nobody may claim a monopoly of the gospel. Good news is for sharing. We are under obligation to make it known to others.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you to see your indebtedness to unbelievers in your spheres of influence and to cultivate genuine affections for them. Pray for opportunities to invite them into your life to regularly witness the transformative effects of the Gospel. Participate in making our church a hospitable environment for doubters, unbelievers, strugglers, and sinners of all kinds to encounter the love of the Father in Christ alone by faith alone through God’s grace alone. Come this Sunday expecting to be edified by God’s Word in the means of grace and through His people gathered to encourage one another for His glory and the life of the world!

In Christ,
Cameron
