Dear Baptized Ones...
Dear Baptized Ones,
We have the privilege this Sunday of witnessing the baptism of Pack Calton. As part of this service, we will sing “Wash Me Clean”, written by David Wilton and performed by Page CXVI (https://soundcloud.com/pagecxvi/03-wash-me-clean). The song opens with words worthy of our consideration:
Wash me clean, In the warm sun dry me
Cleanse my heart, From all iniquity
Baptize me, In the Holy Spirit sea
Renew my mind, That wickedness may flee
I encourage each of you to improve upon your baptism by considering how the work of Christ in his death and resurrection cleansed our hearts from all iniquity allowing us to become sons and daughters of God the Father. As a result of this cleansing work of Christ, we are given the Holy Spirit to renew our minds as we grow more Christ-like in sanctification and are less bound by wickedness. This all points forward to the glorious renewal of all things at Christ’s return when the resurrection will burst forth in radiant glory. The song closes beautifully capturing this beautiful reality to come:
In these days, Barren fields will sprout trees
The deaf and blind will hear and see,
The dead will raise and begin to breathe
The dead will raise and begin to breathe,
The earth will groan in pain to see
The sons of God declare to be,
His full and glorious family
The beautiful, perfect bride of thee
Take this opportunity to share within your families and among your friends the powerful truths that are represented in and through your baptism.
In Christ,
Cameron
