Weekly Confession: August 14th
Gracious and Merciful Father,
We come before you to confess our sin as Your redeemed and beloved children. May Your Spirit alone convict us of our sin and remind us of our pardon in Christ through repentance.
We confess that we too often refuse to be submissive to rulers and authorities choosing instead to be disobedient and unprepared for every good work (Titus 3:1).
We confess that we at times speak evil of others, quarrel with others, lack gentleness, and are discourteous toward those around us (Titus 3:2).
We confess that we forget that we were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another (Titus 3:3).
We confess that we struggle to live in light of our washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit as heirs according to the hope of eternal life (Titus 3:4-7).
We confess that we are not careful to devote ourselves to good works choosing instead unprofitable controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law (Titus 3:8-11).
We confess that we sometimes are unprepared to help cases of urgent need and are unfruitful (Titus 3:12-15).
We confess all of these things before You because You are faithful to forgive us in Christ. Bless us with the assurance of our pardon by Your Holy Spirit in Christ alone by faith alone through Your grace alone from Your Word.
Amen.
