Weekly Confession: August 7th
Gracious and Merciful Father,
We come before you to confess our sin as Your redeemed and beloved children. May Your Spirit alone convict us of our sin and remind us of our pardon in Christ through repentance.
We confess that we too often believe that salvation can be attained through our earthly efforts apart from Christ who brings it to us (Titus 2:11).
We confess that we limit the scope of salvation to those most like us failing to believe that You can save sons and daughters from every tongue, tribe, and nation (Titus 2:11).
We confess that we fail to be trained by grace alone in Christ alone to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age (Titus 2:12).
We confess that we struggle to wait in grace and godliness for the return of Christ as our most blessed and truest hope (Titus 2:13).
We confess that we are guilty of not living as a purified people who are zealous for the good works of redemption and reconciliation that bring glory to You (Titus 2:14).
We confess that we sometimes rebel against and disregard the authority that You have placed over us in the church (Titus 2:15).
We confess all of these things before You because You are faithful to forgive us in Christ. Bless us with the assurance of our pardon by Your Holy Spirit in Christ alone by faith alone through Your grace alone from Your Word.
Amen.
