Philippians 1:3-6

Key Truth: God’s work in and through His people is cause for profound thanksgiving.

I. (Motive) Gratitude to God constitutes a foundational motive of prayer.

a. Thanksgiving is prompted by delight in what God has done.

b. Constancy in prayer is engendered by remembrance of God’s goodness to and through other believers.

II. (Focus) Concerted partnership in sharing God’s good news in Christ is a continuing focus of prayer.

a. Gospel partnership is persevering.

b. Gospel partnership is united.

III. (Confidence) God’s own faithfulness gives us assurance in prayer.

A. God sovereignly completes what He begins.

B. God’s ultimate goal is consummated in Christ’s coming again.
