Communion Letter: August 27th
Dear Family at Christ Community,
This Sunday we will gather to celebrate Jesus as our King inaugurated in His baptism from Luke 3:15-22 along with God’s faithfulness to our church in providing Robby and Matt to serve as Associate Pastors under Christ. As part of our celebration, we will be offered the Lord’s Table to help nourish us in offering ourselves up to the service of King Jesus. We would have nothing to offer without the death and resurrection of Christ on our behalf as signified by the elements. As Donald M. Baillie writes in The Theology of the Sacraments and Other Papers:
“…we, also, when we come to Communion, bring the offering of ourselves, our work, our play, our gifts, our powers, our possessions, our lives, that we may reconsecrate all to God. Ultimately that is the only offering which we can make—the offering of ourselves. And while in the sacrament it is profoundly true that God is the giver and we the receivers, it also true that receiving from God means giving ourselves to Him….”
Please give thanks for Jesus’s sacrifice on your behalf! Ask the Spirit to help you offer yourself for His glory, our joy, and the life of the world. Receive the reminder of God’s love for you through Christ’s broken body and shed blood to redeem you. Remember His invitation to you to share His love with the coming generations and those who don’t yet believe in your spheres of influence.
In Christ,
Cameron
