Dear Family at Christ Community,

We are invited this coming Sunday to gather in worship to hear the Lord God Almighty from  Romans 14:1-4 as well as the other elements in our liturgy. By His grace, our Abba Father welcomes us also to His table to taste again of His redemptive goodness to us in Jesus the Christ. What a staggering image of the truly Strong welcoming the truly weak in incomprehensible hospitality! We, too, are called in the strength of our salvation and freedom in Christ to hospitably invite those weakened by the ongoing struggle to be truly free in Christ to our tables to be nourished by the Gospel’s transforming power. R.C. Sproul in Romans: The Righteous Shall Live By Faith beautifully describes this hospitable posture:

As God receives us by grace, we must receive one another by grace. Love covers a multitude of sins as well as a multitude of misunderstandings and weak theology. One who is weak ought not to despise one who manifests liberty, and one who manifests liberty ought not to despise one with a scrupulous conscience.”

As we gather, let’s remember these 2 very important things. The bread broken serves as a merciful reminder of our forgiveness as beloved of and in Christ. In our sinful weakness, we need to be reminded of Whose and who we are in Jesus. The overflowing cup offers us the nourishing grace needed to continue with hope and joy in a fallen world as we await Jesus’ return. In our resurrected strength, we need to be nourished to love others as we have been loved.

In Christ,
Cameron
