Communion Letter: October 16th
Dear Family at Christ Community,
This Sunday we will gather to hear God’s Word from Psalm 84 as well as the other aspects of our liturgy including the Lord’s Table. Communion tangibly reminds us of God’s presence with us in Christ. Donald M. Williams describes this reality in The Preacher’s Commentary: Psalms 73-150:
Like Israel of old, as we gather in (Jesus’s) name and direct our sustained praises to Him (not just about Him), His Spirit descends and His presence is manifest in our midst. Jesus is here, and we are saved, healed, and delivered from our enemies.
God’s promised weekly presence in worship is what makes it a blessed necessity. His presence draws us to worship with joy and gratitude and sends us out prepared for the days ahead in a fallen world.
As you look ahead to worship this Sunday, please consider how God’s presence with us His people blesses you. Come expecting to be nourished in Christ for the challenges in the week ahead knowing that another Lord’s Day Sabbath awaits you at the end of it.
In Christ,
Cameron
