Communion Sunday Banner 2021

Dear Family at Christ Community,

We will conclude our Sacraments Series this Sunday with 1 Corinthians 6:9-20. Fittingly, we will celebrate the Lord’s Table as the capstone. In preparation for coming to the table, I want to remind us of the various things we’ve emphasized to help orient us to Christ. Remember, you have the liberty to emphasize different aspects at different times or work through them all for each Lord’s Supper. The goal is to help us remember who and Whose we are to better be nourished by the elements in the power of the Holy Spirit as we are hospitably welcomed before Jesus.

Preparatory Practices for the Lord’s Table:

  1. Reflect on who you were apart from Jesus for God’s grace to taste even sweeter in Christ.
  2. Repent and bear fruits in the Spirit in keeping with repentance for present sins.
  3. Bring your doubts to the table to be nourished by the intercession of Jesus and the prayers of the Holy Spirit.
  4. Meditate on your baptism as it signifies and seals your death to and freedom from the slavery of sin in the power of the resurrection in the Spirit to walk in newness of life.
  5. Rest in God’s love for you as the foundation of your theology and discipleship. You are beloved of God in Christ!
  6. Remember the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the need to embody the Gospel.
  7. Pursue reconciliation within Christ’s body for your spiritual health and the fitness of the church.
  8. Consider where you need/want to grow in bearing the image of Christ and seek nourishment unto mature in communion with Jesus and His people.

Please join us in seeking to be better prepared for each Lord’s Table to taste anew of God’s goodness to and love for us in Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit!

In Christ,
Cameron
