Gracious and Merciful Father,

We come before you to confess our sin as Your redeemed and beloved children. May Your Spirit alone convict us of our sin and remind us of our pardon in Christ through repentance.

We confess that we often resent Your command to submit to human authority, forgetting that our submission brings about good for the life of the world (1 Peter 2:13-15).  

We confess that we often do not use our freedom in Christ to honor everyone, but we seek our own advantage instead (1 Peter 2:16-17).

We confess that we often respond to our suffering with evil rather than with good, failing to imitate Jesus by entrusting ourselves to You in our suffering (1 Peter 2:18-25).

We confess all of these things before You because You are faithful to forgive us in Christ. Bless us with the assurance of our pardon by Your Holy Spirit in Christ alone by faith alone through Your grace alone from Your Word.
