Matthew 12:38-41

Key Truth: Christ’s death and resurrection bring both judgment and blessing.

 

I. (Purpose) Jesus’ deeds authenticate his message.

 

II. (Meaning) Jesus’ death and resurrection fulfill the prefigured sign of Jonah.

a. Jesus went through death and hell in the place of his people.

b. Jesus is the only One who could both satisfy God’s infinite justice and

provide perfect righteousness for his people.

 

III. (Proper Response) Jesus warns against persistent denial of his mission and message.

a. We must beware of presuming on the grace of God.

b. We must respond to the Gospel while we have the opportunity.
