Remembering the Grace of God
February 19, 2017 Preacher: Matthew O'Sullivan Series: Grace in Unexpected Places
Scripture: Deuteronomy 8:1–20
Key truth: God continually calls His people to remember that by His grace He is with us during the good times and the bad.
We must remember God’s grace during the bad times.
Deuteronomy 8:1-10
Q: What has been your biggest struggle, hardship, or trial recently? How has God been gracious to you even in that?
We must not forget God’s grace during the good times.
Deuteronomy 8:11-18
Q: How has God been good to you this week? Can you give a specific example of His grace in your life?
We must never cheapen God’s grace at any time.
Deuteronomy 8:19-20
Q: How do you respond to the warnings that God gives us in His Word? Do you run towards or away from His presence when you sin?
Deuteronomy 8:1-20 teaches that:
- We must cling to God’s promises and trust in His purposes during hard times.
- We must take time to be still and remember God’s grace as the source of our blessings during good times.
- We must guard ourselves against a cheap view of God’s grace by remembering the cost Jesus paid so that we can be with our Father
